We knew that while in the UK we will have to drive on the left side of the road, and that the steering wheel is also on the left. An adventure for sure, but doable (I say this because I won't be the one driving). While we were looking at rental cars, Bryan noticed that all the rental were manual and he starts to panic.
Bryan: Are they all manual?!
Me: Yeah... so? You know how to drive a stick.
Bryan: The stick shift is going to be on the other side.
Me: Oh, I didn't even think of that...
Bryan: What about the pedals? Are they in opposite order?? (his voice starts to rise in alarm)
Lydia: Crap, I didn't of that either....
A few minutes later after a Google search, we were relieved to find out that in the UK the order of the pedals are the same as the USA-clutch, brake, gas.
All the same, if you see a couple of American tourists heading your way down the narrow streets of Ireland looking like this:

You may want to get out of the way...

I drove once in the UK, and it was def, an adventure. Driving behind someone and following them makes it a bit easier. If I could do it, you'll be fine!
ReplyDeleteGood to know! I want to try driving, but will definitely be sticking to the back roads!
