Hot Air and Hot Air Balloons

It was a scorching hot day yesterday with temperatures reaching into the mid 90s.  It was one of those days where you just want to lay inside, sitting in front of a fan to try and stay cool.  However, with an active 3 year old there is no sitting around.

In the evening, we went to a balloon festival.   On the way there, we hit torrential down pours, but the clouds broke just as we arrived to our destination.  The storm burst  cooled down the Earth about 20 degrees so it was actually a pleasant experience to be outside.

This was our first time at the balloon festival and I was slightly disappointed at first. In my mind, I thought there were going to be quite a few hot air balloons rising in the air, but there was only one.

But my disappointed soon changed to awe as I was standing just a few yards away from this massive balloon rising toward the sky.

There was a moment when I felt like a character in The Wizard of Oz, watching the Great and Powerful Wizard prepare to take off into the sky.  Sadly, this particular balloon never left the ground because of the weather conditions.

We didn't stay too long at the hot air balloon, Jack noticed many children with their own helium balloons, so we set off to find one for him.  After what seemed like endless searching and what I though for sure was the was the beginning of a meltdown...We found the balloons!

The elusive balloon found!

Listening to live music with daddy
And of course we took time to be a little silly...

We were doing a lot of this at the fair

But the highlight of the trip for our son, was riding a school bus to and from the fair grounds.  His first official ride on a school bus!
