Fevers and Fuzzy Monsters

Jack woke up at 3:30 this morning with a fever.  And for a parent whose child is prone to febrile seizures we are in a constant state of worry until that fever breaks.

He was giving Ibuprofen and a wet washcloth as we began our "Jack watch".  While he has a fever, we do not leave him for a moment just in case he does have a seizure.  About an hour of checking his forehead a gazillion times, the medicine finally kicked in and his temperature dropped.

Unfortunately, with the fever he had a very croupy sounding cough, and we knew that we needed to get him into the doctor's office.

Luckily our pediatrics's office is open on the weekend, so this morning we take him in and as the doctor is listening to his chest and lungs she asks Jack, "Is there spaghetti in there?"

She looks into his ears and asks, "Is Elmo in there?" and Jack very seriously says, "No, he is in the car."

Bryan and I bust out laughing because his giant stuff Elmo was indeed in the car.

Diagnosis is that Jack does have the croup, he still has a fever, but luckily no seizures thus far.

Looks like we will be having a Mommy and Jack day tomorrow.
