The parade is always a big hit with Jack. He of course loves the candy and fire trucks. Although poor Scarlett wasn't a fan of the sirens, but miraculous she still managed to stay asleep through the entire thing!
After the parade, we walked around the fair grounds and grabbed a bite to eat. When Bryan returned with the food he commented on how there was a guy walking around with a boa constrictor around his neck. Now my husband does not like snakes. He hates them, and will not go near them. He has gotten better over the years and I am proud of him that he doesn't transfer his fears to our son. I remember a time, early in our relationship, we were sitting on the couch flipping through the stations to find something to watch. I had control of the remote and I came upon a nature channel that was doing a documentary on snakes. Well Bryan flipped out when he saw the snake on television, and I thought he was just pretending, so I kept teasing him by flipping back to the snake channel. It wasn't until I looked at his ashen face that I realized he was extremely afraid of snakes. Oops.
I don't mind snakes. Do I want one for a pet? No, but I don't mind going into a reptile house and looking at them, or if I see one outside I don't freak out. My husband on the other will not put one step inside a reptile house and I've seen him freak out seeing a snake while we were hiking.
Although to his credit he has gotten much better over the years.
So back to the homecoming. We were about to leave when I spot the man with the boa walk past us. Now Jack loves to hear the story about how mommy touched a boa constrictor when she was in second grade and I thought Jack would like to see one up close. So while Bryan took Scarlett I took Jack over to see the snake.
Well Jack not only got to touch the snake, but he even wanted to hold it! I love his fearlessness and curiosity. His face lit right up after he was done.
