February Vacation

Alas, it is Sunday evening as I write this, marking the end of our winter vacation.  It was a much needed break from work for both Bryan and I, and we got to do our most favorite thing in the world... Spend time with Jack!  The first weekend, Bryan's parents came into town and we took Jack to their hotel for a little swim in the pool.  He loves the water and I am getting anxious for summer to see him play in the sand and surf at St. Maarten in June.  Sunday, his parents watched Jack for the day while Bryan and I went down to Freeport to the outlet stores and did some much needed shopping and alone time.  It was a beautiful winter's day and we found some great deals.  Gotta love a bargain!

Tuesday, mom flew down for a few day,s and Jack loved having his Memere stay at the house.  Although we hadn't seen her since August I was surprised how quickly he latched on to mom.  He is still asking where she is and it's been a couple days since she left.  He thought it was pretty neat that she was going on a plane in the sky. :)  I love the fact that he is catching on so quickly with words.

While mom was here, Jack went to his favorite place, The Maine Jump (aka the slides).  He also went with Bryan's parents while we went shopping.  Jack is sooo close to jumping!  He is trying so hard, and it will make The Maine Jump (hence the name) twice as much fun when he can master it.

Something that Jack has taking off with this week, is naming and identifying his colors.  Earlier this month he learned how to say green and when asked he said everything is green.  But we have now added: red, yellow, orange, blue and purple.  He will correctly identify the color about 30% of the time, but he has just exploded with all  this knowledge in a week.  He loves everything about colors and soaking it all in. Unfortunately, I can't take credit in this new found fascination for the colors of the rainbow.  As much as I hate to admit it and limit it as much as I can in our household, he was inspired by a video on YouTube.  It's from Sesame Street and it features four grown men wearing different color jump suits singing about the 3 primary colors and how you can make new colors with just red, yellow and blue.  It is educational and I admit kinda catchy (not so much after the 50th time).  Jack can now sing along with it and name what color comes next.  For those who are interested here is the latest video that Jack is obsessed with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yu44JRTIxSQ

Jack loves to help in the kitchen, so over the weekend we baked cupcakes with our brand new stove. Jack really liked watching the cupcakes cook through the oven window and the taste test!

I don't know why we bother buying toys for Jack.  He amused himself for at least 30 minutes playing with a turnip we bought to use for a boiled dinner...
