It's been almost a month since I've posted last. This past month has bee a whirlwind. I was hired about 2 weeks before school began to teach 4th grade in a different school system. I am cutting my commute by half and will be getting over a 20% raise. It's a wonderful school system and although I miss my wonderful co-workers I am enjoying this new challenge. Of course I am also in the process of working on my Masters, so I'm taking a class, learning the ropes of a new school, juggling life and I feel I just need to stop and breathe for a minute to keep my head from spinning. However, the downside of getting this new job is we had to cancel our trip to San Diego to attend a family wedding because of a mandatory training at work. . We hope to take a trip down during our April vacation and spend the week (pending on relative's schedules). Jack's birthday is the 17th during the break and we couldn't think of a better place to celebrate!
School is now in session but it hasn't stopped us from taking a few day trips. They now have to be done during the weekends, but the weather is still beautiful and the air has just a hint of crispness signaling the start of fall.
We took Jack to a pirate invasion in Lubec this year. Pirates from Eastport sail across the harbor and invade Lubec. Children and adults are armed with water balloons awaiting to soak the scallywags! Our Captain Jack had a jolly good time!
We actually were able to get Jack to say Arr! A few times during the day.
Now we need to work on Jack's pirate manners. During the festival he was in the field picking flowers, smiling at people and saying hello to strangers, he was a very jolly pirate!
Armed and ready for the pirates!
