3 months

It's hard to believe that Jack has reached 3 months. We are enjoying him immensely. Here are some of Jack's latest feats: Yesterday we got our first belly laugh from Jack! Apparently our little boy is quite ticklish. He was on his changing table laughing and squealing at his daddy. I came over and gave him a tickle in the ribs and that's when he started giggling and shaking that little tummy of his. I did not video tape this one (I was too caught up in the moment) but will try and get one soon to post.

Also we have transferred Jack from his bassinet in our room to his crib in his own room this week. Other then the battery dying on the video monitor the first night at around midnight which had me scrambling around looking for the power cord it's been a smooth transition. Our next big goal is to try and get Jack to sleep in his crib and not his carseat. Since he has been born he has been sleeping in his carseat that would be placed inside his bassinet or crib. We tried laying him down flat on his back, but he would cry instantly or wake up soon after. We tried elevating the mattress, but he would end up roll down the side which also inadvertently woke him up. Swaddling wouldn't work because he is such an active baby the covers would get kicked off, he would then get cold, which then again inadvertently would wake him up. So after about a week of trying different things that all failed Jack was exhausted as were his mom and dad. We decided to say screw it and placed him back in this carseat and got a little shut eye. At our next pediatrician's appointment. I spoke with Jack's doctor about my concerns with him only sleep in the carseat. He said it sounded like he may have acid reflux (which explains the constant spitting up) and to not worry about his sleeping arrangements at the moment. He said this, (which I loved) "It is not like your son will be going off to college still sleeping in his carseat." When he is ready we'll know.

So to sum up he is still sleeping in his carseat at night. But I bought a wedge that slips under the sheet of his crib's mattress and then a positioner that will help him not to slip down the side. I've laid him down on this during his naps and today he slept for over an hour. I may be brave and try it during the night next week. Stay tuned...

UPDATE: As of August 3, Jack is now on night #2 sleeping without his car seat! He woke up a few times during the night, but didn't wake up to feed until 4:30. Way to go Jack! Mom and Dad are so proud of you!!
