Memorial Day

We spent Memorial Day at Bryan's parents' place in Lubec, Maine.

Bryan's mother has a similar picture of Bryan when he was younger. By the time we left on Monday the clear glass door had become an opaque one between Jack's and Izzy's smudges!

Jack really practiced his walking at Nana and Slimpa's house

Jack has always been a bit of a Momma's Boy, but lately it has gotten worse. He is fine if I am not in the room, but as soon as he spies me from across the room he scurries over crying, "Ma ma! Ma ma!" pulling on my leg until I pick him up. It can get a little frustrating when I am trying to do something. But I secretly love it. :)

Jack loves watermelon!!

Okay so Bryan and I used the opportunity to have the grandparents watch Jack for a couple of hours while we took a day hike over to Canada. We decided to go to the lighthouse, and let me just say that I hadn't been that scared in a while. I'm just glad I didn't read the following sign until AFTER we went. Good news is we didn't get stranded at the lighthouse for 8 hours.
Whether you speak English or French this is one ominous sign!

Our destination.

So the 'path' to the lighthouse was very primitive there were several ladders we had to go down and they weren't exactly top quality. Though you cannot tell by this photograph, the ladder is tilted at about a 30 degree angle to the right.

Not only were the ladders crooked but they were deteriorating from the cold Atlantic seas and were completely covered in rust. Some places were so bad it had eaten holes into the steps.

However, after all of that we made it (safely?) to our destination and the view was breathtaking.
