The past month, has been one of the hardest and challenging months we've had since Jack was a newborn. Actually, it probably has been tougher, for when Jack was first born I was able to catch some sleep during the day. A luxury I lost when I went back to work. Jack has caught about every illness in this past month. If it was going around at daycare Jack got it. He has had pink eye twice, colds and is now just getting over hand, foot and mouth disease.
Because of all these illnesses Jack has been out of sorts and his routine has been all messed up. He stopped sleeping through the night and at it's worse he would not sleep in his crib at all. At one point the only thing that would settle him was if he grabbed my hair and played with it. I would have to stick my head down in his crib and he'd grab my hair and immediately stop crying. I may be going bald with all the hair being pulled out, but I don't care. I'm thinking about investing in a wig to give to Jack when he goes to bed. :)
I know Jack getting sick so frequently is building his immune system and it has become my mantra as I repeat it in my head when he has waken up on the hour every hour. However, I am happy to say that since yesterday Jack seems to be out of his funk and if back to his jolly ol' self. It is so nice to have my happy baby back.
I saw this in the paper the other day and thought it fit our life and any mother who has a new baby:

So glad to hear Jack is back to his happy self. It's so sad when they're sick and SO HARD when they're not sleeping.
ReplyDeleteThank you Teresa! It was a rough week. The hardest part I think is he can't tell us what hurts and then he looks at you like why aren't you helping me??
